Hi Emmet, my name is Joan. My husband has non small cell lung cancer, stage IV.
He has gone through two three week cycles of chemotherapy using taxol and
carboplatin, and in three weeks if the tumors have shrunk they are going to
start him on radiation. We went to Loma Linda University to see if he would be
a candidate for their Proton treatment but were turned down. There are a lot
of different treatments out there, if his had not spread to various other parts
of both lungs (numerous peripheral nodules) they would have removed his upper
right hand lobe even though his bronchial tubes are involved. He was a smoker
for 54 years and worked with asbestos for three years while building a house in
the 70's. They think the small peripherals may have been asbestos caused, but
told us that you did not get cancer from asbestos unless you smoked and then it
was a lethal combination. He also has been on an alternative medicine, called
Cantron. You can find the information about this by typing in Cantron, Cancell,
or Entevel and the page that comes up will tell you how to order it and quite a
bit about the product. He is also taking magnesium and now lots of vitamin e and
c, even though the Cantron said not to while taking it for some reason. He is
not taking his Cantron at the moment because of some reaction to medicines and
they thought it might be the offender, but now we don't think it was. I'm sure a
lot of knowledgeable people on the forum will tell you a lot of places to get
information. Good luck and God bless. Joan
