Hi Linda,
I am reading your e-mail and thinking of my own problem of going to the
doctor, in the past. I would like to pass on a few thoughts that may "get
you going !!!"
First, the problem is that you have a fear. It is problably more in the
makeup of your brain than for any other single reason. Some of us are just
put together to be somewhat fearful, cautious, overly concerned people and
some of us are just the opposite. Accept that fear of yours as a part of
who you are. The next thing is to get going (to the doc.) and work around
your fear and your lack of action !!!!
Second, I would suggest that you make a list of the actions that you NEED to
take and then send them to me. And we will correspond back and forth until
you have completed the list. Look at this correspondence as being made to
someone to whom you have sent the list to and that you have to keep me
informed of your progress on the list. For instance, go to the American
Cancer Society in your city and get a book on cancer. It is a big blueish
green book and sells for about $7 or so, I think. Put that on your list.
Read parts of the book .... put that on your list. Call your doctor's
office for an appointment ..... put that on your list. Read as much as
possible about what might be causing your problem on your abdomen ... put it
on your list (as a continuing thing).
Send me your list. Keep me informed of your actions on this list.
NO B.S. just the truth, of course.
Please keep in mind that what you "think" is not necessarily what the real
truth is about what might happen to you. In my case, for instance, I have
just gong through treatement for prostate cancer, and it was a cakewalk.
Just a few inconveniences is all. The whole treatment took about six months
but it was not very inconvenient at all and certainly not painful.
You will be amazed at how it really works out for you I think.
If the costs of the treatment are an issue please be aware that the health
care system seems to treat people now regardless of their ability to pay.
I hope and expect to hear from you soon so that we can get you started on
your way to having your problem further diagnosed and treated.
BTW I see we have the same ISP. I really like their operation, do you have
the same experience with them ?
Sincerely,
Steve Cook
