Dear Andrea,
Welcome to our group! And, congradulations on finishing
the radiation and chemo and surgery!! You have come
through the worst part and now are on that road to
recovery. Cancer certainly does change our lives, doesn't
it? I guess it is all a matter of how we each deal with
it all.
For me, it has been a path of self discovery and building
of new and meaningful relationships...with my God, my
family and four children, and all the new and courageous
people here on mol-cancer. It has made me reevaluate what
is really important to me and how I want to spend the
limited time left to me. I certainly don't want to spend
it in worry or fear over things way beyound my
control...that is were the power of hope and faith come
into play for me.
We also have to have faith and trust in the providers of
care that they are expert in judging what is the best
course for us. It also requires our investigating and
gathering as many facts and information so as to make an
informed decision. One place to get that information is
at 1-800-4CANCER, the National Cancer Institute. They can
send you the latest information about Tomoxifen versus
Raloxifen in preventing the reoccurance of breast cancer.
There are also a vast number of web-sites that have
information. Lillian is great at guiding people to these
sites. Also, Marty of this group has been attending the
Clinical Oncologist meeting in LA and will be reporting on
some of the latest advances.
Andrea, stay with us and I think we are in for some
interesting and exciting times ahead for the treatment of
cancer. Welcome to our journey of recovery.
God Bless.
