Just found this forum while searching the internet. My husband is the one
who was just diagnosed with smlc with possible lymph node involvement
between the lungs. More testing to be sure with an oncologist. We are now
searching for an oncologist. On primary care physician will recommend some
in Scottsdale, but we are hesitant. We live in a small Az mountain town
about 3 1/2 hrs from PHX and 4 hrs from Tucson, 5 hours from Albuquerque
and 3 from Flagstaff.
Does anyone know about treatment centers that excell. I know University
Med Center in Tucson is supposed to be a great place, BUT their first
appointment is about 3 weeks from now. In Albuquerque, (where we are
originally from) we can see an oncologist that has been recommended to us
by doctors and nurses in the medical field. I find that an excellent
recommendation personally. Don't really know.
Closest to us is a smalled Cancer Center in Flagstaff where followup
treatment could be done very close to home, but maybe not as advanced in
treatment stategies? Can you provide any additional information to make an
informed choice. From what I hear it is important to make the correct
choice in the beginning.
