My wife developed secondary lymphadema after a modified mastectomy. We
have conducted extensive research and found Institutes in Austria and
Australia that seem to have the best insight in the treatment of
lymphadema. There is also the Lerner Institute. The exercises
prescribed for lymphadema appear to all be low impact. For lymphadema
in the arm, simple arm, hand and neck motions are involved. Some
involve the use of a 3' long - 11/2 inch diameter dowel - trying to
stretch it etc. Execises in the water were about the same - hand and arm
motions. No lifting of any weights! The National Lymphadema Institute
should have more information.
