I was very impressed by your site on the web. I have an eight year old
making her first communion next month and will be calling your
organization for a special something from daddy. I am concerned that you
two are not covered by insurance. Have you been to a physician? Do you
know for sure what it is Ariel has?
There are a number of Cancer Centers around and almost all give care
regardless of ability to pay to those that qualify. The nearest Cancer
Center to you is the Oregon Cancer Center at Oregon Health Sciences
University. Their address is 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, L609 in
Portland. Dr. Grover Bagby, Jr. is the Director. Their telephone is
503-494-1617. They are a Clinical Cancer Center and thus would be a good
place to go for care.
I would also recommend that once you have a diagnosis, you call the
National Cancer Institute at 1-800-4CANCER to discuss the case with a
representative. They will answer your questions and advise you on the
latest treatments available in addition to mailing information about
cancer, diet, etc. to your home.
I am a one year survivor of cancer to the nose and mouth. I have found
that getting care from an oncologist that you trust, maintaining a
positive outlook, having a strong faith in your God and learning as much
as you can about this disease are the keys to making a successful journey
to recovery. Please tell your wife that she is not alone and, as a care
giver, neither are you. There are many wonderful and loving people here
that will advise and support the two of you along the way.
