It is good to be back with all of you. Loma Linda Medical Univesity told
my husband he was not a candidate for their Photofrin program, as we
suspected, but did urge him to receive chemotherapy and told him our own
cancer center here in Klamath Falls could treat him as well as them. He
really needed to hear that so it made the trip worthwhile, to say
nothing of the beautiful weather down there, after we had had so much
gloom. He started last Monday with Taxol and Carboplatin. His blood
pressure elevated too much and an ekg indicated hypertension & a little
angina, so he is now on blood pressure medication. It is helping him a
lot. He did not really get sick at all, just ached after coming down
from the steroids, and played 18 holes of golf. The doc thinks it has
already shrunk some, after only one treatment!!!! Thank all of you who
kept encouraging me to encourage him to have chemotherapy. While we
realize non-small cell lung cancer can not be eradicated by the
chemotherapy completely, it can be a tremendous blessing if it can
shrink it and give him additional months, and quality of life. He
repeats his sessions every three weeks. Thanks again, sorry it took me
so long to get back on here.
