Ariel: We just acquired some information regarding financial assistance.
1. You can apply for State Disability; which either yourself and if your
wife worked put moneys into. Apply for SSI (takes about 6 mos., can be
turned down first time around, reapply) After the disability runs out you
then go on the SSI which provides Medicare.
Federaly funded hospitals must take everyone whether they can pay or not.
If you have insurance policies you can buy back a portion for medical
expenses. Has any of these helped you? Now we have had several people with
the same type cancer as your wife and I know they will get on line to help.
Please keep checking at this site. May God be with you and your wife and
know that our prayers will be with you as you go through the cancering
journey process. You will learn much from the individuals who are cancering
or caregivers of those cancering. Along with the knowledge they will impart
you will see that it comes straight from the heart. I have attached sites
to get you going on acquiring the knowledge needed for your wife's cancer
and with this knowledge comes a control (cancer people feel they have lost
control of their lives) in treatments; etc. Pls. know many people who have
been predicated not to last long have gone well past any predictions a
doctor has made and with all the new treatments there is much to be hopeful
for. Hope is one of the bodies biggest healer. Sincerely, Lillian

(On the Home Page of Medicine On Line (MOL) go to
Medline. This is a service of the National Library of Medicine which
provides literature searches in the medical journals. When you enter the
name of the cancer it will return articiles from the
last 3 years. The cancer links contains patient files. The Medicine
On Line Cancer Services are listed there including some quite good
international sites.)
