Mom has finished rad and will begin chemo on Friday May 8. They are going
to start her on a low dosage of navelbine. Anyone heard of it? My husband,
son and I will go for a long weekend for Mother's day. I wanted to be with
her on her first chemo and to also lend ahand to Dad if Mom doesn't fair
well with the first treatment. The Dr plan on giving Mom a dose of meds
for nausea. How long does it usualy take for a chemo treatment?
We had a rough week!! She started losign her hair the last day of rad
treatment last week (Tues) and it is almost all gone. Mom has never been
much of a cryer but her emotions seem to be very fragile. The Dr said it
was the steroids that she is taking to reduce brain swelling caused by rad.
They have reduced the steriod dose and they say Dad will see a difference
within the next few days.
I was talking to Mom and Dad on the phone Friday and Mom started crying
because of her hair. Then Dad started crying. It was probably the most
difficult situation I have ever been in. To her both your parents cry and
not be able to put your arms around them. I started crying and my husband
had to take the phone away and calm us all down. Thanks God for a great
husband. John tells my Mom he is going to shave his head so they wil look
alike.
Best go for now. Please share with me the formula for the anti-nausea
meds. I missed it on the last group of postings.
