Carla, didn't know you had answered the beet question. Thanks, I will eat
more of them... cooked. I am no guru by the way and taking a lot of this
stuff on faith and very luckily had done some reading on this when James
turned vegetarian and when I had my colon resection. I am encouraged that
some mainstream people are starting to think that there might be something
in fueling our ailing bodies properly. We are lucky in that we took up
allotment gardening (our old house is on a big rock) about four years ago
and were able to grow some of our own vegetables. We are down to our last
squash and will get one more meal of it and hope to do better this year as
we also have the use of James mother's garden. Growning your basil for
pesto and other greens is a real treat. Unfortunately,we loved preparing,
planting and picking but did not get around to eating all of our produce.
We will give more away this year. We even grew a lot of pumpkins but never
made the pies (yes, they all went bad)(this must qualify for more than 40
lashes with a wet noodle!)

fruit with the pulp and skin being better for you than juicing... I have
had many people ask me about that when they find out I am juicing... My
only answer to them has been that I can't eat as much a day, as I am able
to juice for my morning meal... and since the apples and carotts go in
with skin and all I assumed that I was getting the benefits of the
nutrients... Is this true?

Also Jeanne, thanks for the news on Greg Andersons new book, I didn't know
he had one out. I read the Cancer Survivor which was a little abstract but
told a good story, and 50 Essential things... I will look forward to
finding his new one..
