Dear JoAnn,
My husband had rad concurrent w/ chemo to the head and neck. His neck
looked like he had been in a fire (this was a VERY intense protocol, I don't
mean to alarm you). I cut the neck ribbing out of his softest, oldest
t-shirts so they would not abrade. Also, Aquaphor, by the makers of
Eucerin, helped w/ the burning-ask your pharmacist-you don't need a
prescription. We used it after tx. NOT before. I also think anything that
would smell good to bathe in-check your health food store as their products
are gentle and usually have recommendations as to what scents are
invigorating, calming, etc. Charlie's saliva glands are no more, and he
uses a rinse of 1 tsp soda to 1 qt water-no more no less. This was not
irritating even when his tongue began to break apart (again, this is only
because it was oral cancer). That's all I can think of at the moment to
include in the care basket. My best wishes to your mother and aren't you a
sweet daughter.
Sincerely,
Sally Tilson

Subject: [MOL] Update on Mom
>God works in very appropriate ways! I was in a meeting today and a friend

>special mouthwash to use during chemo to keep down mouth sores, pills that
>helped with dry mouth, etc. My friend has compiled this list of helpful
>hints and she shares it with anyone who may need it. I will get the list
