Hi, Betty, Jeanne K here. Marty has been exploring alternative and
conventional therapies for quite time now and is very acknowledgable.
Myself I consulted Dr. Abram Hoffer who practices orthomolecular medicine
simply because my general practitioner sent me to him and the fact that I
was not offered any conventional treatment. This was just starters and I am
still looking and adding on the list of supplements I take. I take Calcium
Asorbic acid (powder form of Vit C), Niacin (B3), manganese chelate,
vitamin E succinate, mixed cartenoids (this is plant derived and not fat
soluble), folic acid, zinc citrate, CQ10 and Vit B complex.I also take flax
seed oil, Kyloric garlic and aspirin. I do not take these supplements in
isolation. I have eliminated sugar almost completely, eat a lot of
vegetables every day and stick to low fat proteins sources including soy
(tofu), brown rice and breads made with mininal additives. Still I do not
expect this to cure me of cancer but is sent down "there" in hope that the
body has only the prime ingredients to go forth to battle or to handle the
effects of radiation, chemo and surgery. There is a book "Beating cancer
with nutrition" by Patrick Quillin that I like that lists alternative
therapies and doesn't automatically dismiss them as "pap". There is a very
prominent disclaimer in the book that the programs listed within are to be
used in conjunction with conventional therapy. There is something of good
to be found in each therapy. Needless to say I do not agree with the
American Cancer stance on supplements in total. I think they are cautionary
in tone and I can understand that they want to keep people from going off
the deep end on supplements or just taking supplements and not changing
their lifestyle. Greg Anderson is a cancer survivor (hopeless) who
researched cancer survivors and he said the majority were treated first by
conventional methods. I am kinda of an oddball here simply because I am in
limbo so I am using the time to research other methods and protocols.
Marty,do you know Patrick Quillan? Opinions, please.
Betty, I also walk, do a lot of deep breathing exercises (these can be done
even if you are too tired to walk), go to reiki and talk and therapeutic
touch, mediation and visual imagery and talk to God a lot. We try to have a
good belly laugh a day. There a lot of books available. I especially like
books by Greg Anderson, "50 Essential things to do when the doctor says its
cancer" and his latest "The 22 (non-negotiable) Laws of Wellness. This will
help you to live each day as best you can. There is a lot of things you can
do yourself and only you can know what is right for you. Keep on looking
for the doctor who will encourage you in your fight to get well, God Bless,
Jeanne
