I guess I would keep after him, if I were you. But don't blame yourself
if you're unable to convince him to go to the doctor. The final
decision rests with him. Maybe you could dig up some info. on melanoma
and show it to him? Do you think that might prompt him to go see the
doctor?
I think any dramatic, unexplained weightloss is reason enough to see the
doctor.
I'm sure that denial comes pretty naturally to recovering alcoholics.
After all, they probably practiced a lot of denial with their
alcoholism. And just because they've stopped drinking doesn't mean
they've necessarily changed their alcoholic thinking, unfortunately.
