[MOL] Apology to Marty, to MOL and so long

Friends, Molers countrymen, lend me your ear.

I come to praise Marty, not to bury him.

My sincere apologies to the remarkable Mr. Marty Auslander.

I defamed him cruelly and unfairly and regret my error. To any of you who saw
the unfortunate message, my apologies to you also. I apologize to you because
the MOL net has done so much good for so many and I really believe that Marty
has done so much good for so many, that for me to detract from this harmony is
a disservice to you as well as an insult to Marty.

Some of you I hardly know and others are like sisters and brothers.

Last Thursday or Friday, I forwarded a little blurb with a title, "Reason", or
"Reasons", whatever.

The blurb contained quotations from very prominent people and corporations
saying things which later proved to be grossly in error. For example, T.J.
Watson (founder of IBM) said that there will never be a need for more than
about 5 computers for the whole world. Western Union policy statement saying
that the telephone was not a viable implement, etc.

With the title, I mentioned Noni Juice, Hydrazine sulfate and Teas, suggesting
that those who decry these unproven items may someday find themselves in the
same boat with those in the blurb who disclaimed things on which the world
relies today.

But, I made mention of Noni, HS and teas for less than noble reasons.

I found in the past that if I said Noni somewhere in my messages, I could
pretty well rely on Marty to jump in and try to set me straight. So, in good
humor, I did another of my Noni baits.

Marty rose to the bait and what I thought was innocent fun has turned into
consternation for several folks on MOL. So, upon reflection, I know now that
my little baiting exercises were not so innocent and I was causing Marty to
respond in a predictable manner which was the equivalent to making fun of him.

I have not entered the arguments that ensued, but having seen one from Marty
that I disagreed with strongly, I wrote to someone else saying I was going to
lay into Marty for something, and that some of what he said is stupid and
possible worse. That was an explosive little burst that was not typical of
who I think am and I apologize for letting my base nature show through.

What really made the spit hit the fan is that I intended to send my comments
privately and instead, I addressed them to the MOL net instead of the private
address by accident. Not so bright.

Since then I have been called stupid, questions flew as to why I would
jeopardize the good that MOL has been doing with some petty disagreements.

All the criticism is accepted and I thanked some for calling my mistakes to
mind so that I may now try to rectify this.

So, again, Marty, I apologize to you and to the MOLers. First to Marty for
being ungentlemanly and rude. To the MOL net members for disrupting the
serious work and lively fun that is MOL.

Marty has welcomed countless thousands of new-comers and got them oriented
when they came with their feelings of helplessness.

A few weeks ago, before I rejoined the net, Marty copied some information to
me at my request.

Marty is a giver.

Still, I do disagree with some of the things Marty says and does as he has
with me. My disagreements are not for public spectacle. Therefore, I shall
now take this discussion off the MOL net to resolve it with Marty and some of
you who have expressed concern.

I have received great information from MOL. My original purpose for joining
is my brogher-in-law's cancer. It seems to be behaving anad we are al doing
the most reasonable thing we can, we have our fingers crossed. So, with my
care giving situation on hold, Adios, I am leaving MOL.

You have Les now and what a guy. Les is one bright and funny fellow. Rather
than become competitive or get lost in his shadow, I'll do the smart and
womanly thing, that is that I shall simply slink away and leave you to his
good humor.

It is not an office I can give because it was never mine, it was a shared
expression of fun and often safety valve humor. Hope I provided a little
levity for some of you and appreciated the friendly fighting over Women's Lib
issues, etc. It was in good fun and I felt that some of it may have given
some of you a little opportunity to bash me and ridicule me with your funny
sarcasm. Hopefully, that may have taken your focus off some of the terrible
things you deal with daily.

Anyhow, Hope the new miracle drugs live up to their press. Take special care,
be good and every now and then, have fun.

p.s. regarding humor
Lots of jokes have hit the MOL. Fine, a few from the men were even funny, of
course those from the women were mainly pitiful attempts to get even. But the
give and take humor of Cindy, Susan, Sally, Jean, Sylvia, LES and some others
was brilliant. It is so superior because it is witty, current and bright.
That I shall miss.
