Tom, here are some of the sites you can go to for more
information. At NCI you can go to PDQ, which is Physician Data Query and
research clinical trials.
Before you start, let me say that you will not find encouragement in the
statistics that you will find. I say this only to forewarn you, but I ask
you to remember that if there is a 30% chance then that means that 30
people of 100 will do extremely well and your
grandmother may just be 1 of those numbers..
May I suggest the following two books for the family and for your
grandmother: Bernie Siegel "Love, Peace and Healing" and Greg
Anderson "50 Essential Things to Do When the Doctor Says It Is
Cancer" The cancering journey is very much affected by two additional
factors. One is faith and one is belief. It is so important to
believe that you will get well. As far as prayer and faith in God, that is
the outlet for the outpouring of your heart..
I hope that you will keep us advised and I hope that this has helped you
somewhat... God Bless you and Grandma, Carla
(On the Home Page of Medicine On Line (MOL) go to
Medline. This is a service of the National Library of Medicine which
provides literature searches in the medical journals. When you enter the
name of the cancer it will return articiles from the
last 3 years. The cancer links contains patient files. The Medicine
On Line Cancer Services are listed there including some quite good
international sites.)
