Dear John and Jo Anne,
I am once again shocked, but not surprised at what some people perceive
to say and yet they call themselves...doctors.. Doctors from a
definition perspective is to try and heal the mind, body and soul and
somewhere along the line they either do not get proper training or just
if they do get the training are insensitive to the human needs. So when
they said to " if she wanted to go through chemo and put up with the
nausea she had that option.", then I would say that is very insensitive
indeed.
Now, my wife was stage IV advanced rare disease known as a carcinoma of
an unknown primary, thought to be ovarian-non-ovarian metastasis to
lymph glands, head to toe. Did you know that brain tumor involvement was
one of the easiest to treat?. We were told that by oncologists at
U.C.L.A., Staten Island University in New YOrk, Loma Linda University in
Riverside, cal and Hoag Memorial in Newport Beach, Cal.
May I suggest this....that you call Dr. Gil Lederman at Staten Island U.
in New YOrk as he is treating for brain mets and other tumors involving
stereotactic radiosurgery as is Loma Linda HOspital in Riverside, Cal
with their Proton radiation and now U.C.I. in Orange Cal has a new
billion dollar stereotactic surgery machine to be more distinct and
revolutionary to brain and other tumor surgeries using non invasive
techniques. You may wish to call them.
Actually what I am saying is when a doctor tells you something so
negative and insensitive as he/she did...its time to either change
oncologists or seek other opinions. You may wish to call the National
Cancer Institute at 1-800-4 cancer to receive their list of
comprehensive hospitals for 2nd opinions. Ask specifically for names of
those facilities that treat the diagnosis and the metastasis in your
case.
God Bless
