Marianne,
I think Marty said he knows Dr. Siegel personally, so you might want to
check w/him. I think Dr. Siegel founded a group called EnCap which you
can find by searching for it on the internet. Also, Amazon.com carries
some of his books & tapes, I believe. I have yet to read any of his
books, but I'm preparing to send Annie the one you mentioned. People
here have highly recommended his books, so I feel confident it will be
helpful to her.
Also, I recall I found a visualization course posted on the internet!
No kidding! I printed the entire thing out which was a monumental task,
but you could just print out the part about cancer, I guess. Or save it
to disk & then send it. Anyway, it's at
http://www.stonecottage.com/canceronline/813-free-image-class.html
And Marty has offered to give me info. on meditation (Barb uses it
regularly). He has already sent me one item and I've tried it. My
psychiatrist recommended that I buy "The Relaxation Response," and I'm
trying to get through that now, although I think "The Big Book of
Relaxation" has a lot to offer. It tells how to do yoga, meditation,
touch therapy, etc. A smorgasborg (sp?) of relaxation techniques. I
just happened across this book at Crown one day and figured it's be
indispensible. Anyway, there's my two cents. I hope it helps.
Keep your chin up. Your in my thoughts and prayers.
