[MOL] John & JoAnne/mothers cancer

John and/or JoAnne,

I have NSCLC and also went on a roller coaster ride when it first was found.  The best advice that I can give you is to make sure that your mother goes to doctors until she finds the one that is right for her and she can truly put her confidence in.  I went to 3 surgeons and then 3 oncologists before I found the right doctors.
The cancer journey is hard enough to go through without having to second guess and/or micro manage your doctors, so the peace must begin there.

I would also recommend that your mom and you as family read a few of the books out there on cancer.  The one that I wish I would have read immediately is Greg Andersons "Fifty Essential Things to Do When the Doctor Says it is Cancer"  This will help to guide her in the cancer journey and will also ease some of the fear that she is experiencing, feeling as though she may be the only one to ever have experienced this.  There is comfort in knowing you are not the only one.

It also has some of the best medicine to let you know that you are not alone and that is God.  The doctors can give you statistics, but they cannot know what is going to happen to your mom.  Greg Anderson survived cancer and I feel sure that reading this book will be a help.  There are several others I can recommend after you all read this one, but this one is the best to help you with where your mom is right now....that I know of.

I will put your mom in my prayers and please know that there are many here who will help you as you need and desire.  God Bless you, Carla
