I don't know if this will help, but here is my experience of last week. I have lung cancer and emphyzema. Last week and this past week my Pulmonary doctor said that I was going to just have to learn to live with the fact that I have so much trouble breathing. Well in the afternoon last Friday, I went to a Nutritionist who said "Get off all dairy products" and I can't tell you the improvement it has made in my breathing. Dairy forms a mucus and I thought maybe if your person with cancer eats dairy products, this might be something to think about. Wish you the best.

Subject: [MOL] Update on Charlie
I wish I could report that he is feeling better, but the mucosis is getting
worse and worse. If it begins to block his airway we are to go to the ER.
He wakes up choking, but is able to (so far) clear it by pulling it out of
mouth with tissue. Without saliva he can't spit it out the way you or I
would.
I should buy stock in Kimberly Clark- he uses at least 3
boxes a day. And it's so sad to hear him gag over and over. Sometimes he
throws up, so then we're back to the old dilemma of weight gain/loss.
They sure know how to kill cancer, it seems, but nothing they have suggested
or prescribed has helped this mucosis a bit. We are just told to live with
it. Charlie is getting very discouraged and he told me he's beginning to
feel depressed mentally and physically. I really feel sorry for him. I
suggested a support group other than the online one. The problem is, I
think he simply does not have the energy to get dressed and go to a meeting.
We will be going in for a CT scan April 1 (only Charlie would have a CT scan
April Fool's Day!!), meet w/ a surgeon to hear what she thinks of the scan
on April 2, and then an appt w/ med onco April 3. By then, I guess we'll
have a pretty good idea of how this protocol worked.
Will let everyone know when we hear an interpretation of the CT scan
Love,
Sally
