Re: [MOL] Prostrate Cancer.

Dear Pamela,

My name is Marty and am a regular here with many other great survivors
and caregivers and I may be just one that will be providing you with
much information. While I am not a doctor I do know much about the
disease you have mentioned and may I suggest that there is a Prostate
Cancer Discussion list, just as this is a general discussion and you
may find that by dialing: http://oncolink.upenn.edu/ Also the usual
protocal treatment that has and is been very successful is a hormone
which is administered either monthly or once every three months
subcutaneously and is called Lupron. Now, since that is a female
derivative hormone there will be side effects such as hot flashes. The
other thing to remedy that is a pill that is called "Casadex". Now it
is not unusual to seek another treatment which is called "aredia" that
builds the bones from metastasis to the bones. It also alleviats any
pain symptom that is may be associated with bone metastasis. However, be
assured there are many other treatments now coming about and are seen to
be very successful.

May I also direct you to calling the National Cancer Institute as
1-8004-cancer as they will provide you with much information as well.

God Bless and do stay tuned here as there will be others responding.
