"I had a call from Dr. Garza today. I thought everything was set for my
medical records to be sent to O.S.U., but it turns out that I have to go
into the office to sign the release. So nothing has been sent to O.S.U.
as yet. Also, I had to call the doctor's office down there to get an
appointment. The doctor I'll be seeing there is Dr. Jeffrey Fowler.
(Jean's note: Anyone know anything about him? I sent Annie his bio
from the AMA page.) My appt. w/Dr. Fowler is on Tuesday, April 7, at
11:00 a.m.
I was able to get some clarification on some things from Dr. Garza. My
cervix and vagina were also cancer free. Cancer was in the channel from
the uterus to the cervix, which we knew after the D&C. However, the
cancer in the channel (or is it canal?) was superficial - it hadn't
attached to the tissue. The nodule that was cancerous was not attached
to anything. It was just "floating" (my description) outside the
uterus. Because of the nodule, it puts me in Stage 3, Endometrial
Cancer, although Dr. Garza seemed to want to wait for the opinion of Dr.
Fowler before commiting to a particular stage. From everything that
I've read, I fit into Stage 2, except for the darn nodule. My first
post-op appt. w/Dr. Garza is on Tuesday, March 31, at 10:15 a.m.
Tomorrow will be my first real outing since the surgery. After I go to
the clinic to sign the release for my records, we're going to go to
Perkins for lunch. What a wild time I'll have!
Today I removed the steri-strips from my incision. It seems wierd not
to have a bandage or anything on it anymore. But it looks pretty good.
I'm healing well. I think drinking a gallon of water a day is helping
there, too.
My friend Linda stopped by for a few minutes today and brought tulips
with her. I received some flowers from the Customer Contact Center at
work today, too. The arrangement is very beautiful. The General Sales
Manager's secretary, who is a very nice person, sent the flowers.
I'm still getting afternoon headaches. I took my blood pressure today
and it was high. Maybe that's my problem. I'm going to watch that
closer going forward. Also, late this afternoon my blood sugar fell to
65. That, too, could have caused the headaches. Today's headache was a
little worse than my other ones.
Linda & Jim (Jean's note: our pharmacist family members): I've decided
to lower some of my blood sugar medication & wonder if you think this
will be okay: I currently take two 10 mg. tablets of Glucotrol XL. I'm
going to cut it to just one 10 mg. tablet to see if it keeps me from
going so low. I take Rezulin (400 mg.) also, but I don't think I cna
cut that in half. I guess I'll make an appt. w/Dr. Comianos to see
about getting some of the meds changed. But until then, I'm just going
to cut down the one Glucotrol tablet. I've been taking my blood sugar
quite a lot, so if it starts going back up I'll go back to taking the
two tablets. Maybe I'll just have to take the Resulin in the future and
be able to dump the Glucotrol.
I've lost two more pounds this week. -Love, Annie
