Hi all again
The visit to the doctor this evening was all right. I don't need any
transfusions right now, but he thinks a visit to the big house might be
necessary one day next week, so he is going to book a space in case it is
needed. Meantime, to my disappointment, it turns out the injection method of
increasing red cells won't work for me, because it is premised on your body
not producing all the stuff the marrow needs to put out a nice lot of red
cells. As it turns out, my body is doing that, and just about everything else,
very nicely thank you. It is just that in leukemia, as the blood test showed,
the marrow doesn't use those ingredients properly, which is why there is
anemia. However, that anemia could be self-correcting, which only time will
tell. Meantime we will continue doing what we have been doing, checking things
out on a twice-weekly basis. Platelets via injection are a distinct
possibility, however, and he is still looking into that.
That is a brief report on what happened subsequent to my finger prick this
evening and my special blood test on Tuesday.
