What I'd like is for you to tell me again why an oncologist is
preferable to general surgeons and ob-gyn's. I'll be glad to forward
your opinions to my sister-in-law in case she still has any questions
about her decision.
Two reasons that I saw personally. Dad went to a regular ear, nose, throat
doctor. He did not know the first thing about cancer. I begged dad to go to a
cancer clinic where there is oncologist's in the fields of all practice. In
Miami where he finally went at the end was a cancer clinic. There was the
regular oncologist. The second was a ear, nose, throat oncologist. The third
was a cardiologist oncologist. All three went in and operated on dad, but it
was just to much cancer, and they were not able to get a good margin after all
the other operations. This is why I myself will only put my hands in the care
of a Doctor who knows cancer, and studies it year around.
Second reason is my son had a T & A by another ear, nose, throat Doctor, and
this Doctor was just great in my eyes, due to my son not being sick any more.
This doctor was sued big time because a women went to him and he did not see
the cancer, because truthfully he did'nt know what he was seeing. Told her it
was strepthroat, and she died three months later. He lost his Hospital
privileges and everything. I know by someone else who went to my Dad's first
doctor, and is sueing him, due to cancer. Everything dealing in Cancer cannot
be taken lightly, because a life depends on it. I have had my say and you will
hear alot more. Good luck. If it takes 4 days to find a good Oncologist then
that is a choice that needs to be thought about. Two hours is not bad, and a
clinic is even better. Gwen
