Alright, I checked out Annie's doctors at the AMA site & this is what I
found. Her primary physician (Dr. Crisoforo G. Garza, Jr.) attended U.
of California, Los Angeles, UCLA School of Medicine, Los Angeles, CA.
He performed his residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Obstetrics &
Gynecology, and UCLA Medical Center (Obstetrics and Gynecology). He is
board certified, but he isn't a member of the AMA. His primary practice
specialty is in obstetrics and gynecology. And I sent you info. on what
my mother-in-law & sister-in-law gleaned from glancing at his wall
plaques. Apparently he has had some connection to the Gilda Radner
Center, etc.
The physcian who will assist (Jose L. Vale) attended Univ. of Puerto
Rico School of Medicine and performed his residency at the University
Hospital (General Surgery). His primary practice specialty is general
surgery. He is board certified and he's a member of the AMA.
What I'd like is for you to tell me again why an oncologist is
preferable to general surgeons and ob-gyn's. I'll be glad to forward
your opinions to my sister-in-law in case she still has any questions
about her decision.
One problem is that there is only one oncologist listed in Marion, OH,
where she lives. But there are quite a few listed in Detroit, Michigan,
which is about 1 hour away.
