[MOL] Marty in agreement with Dr. Gerson and Rich of Grandtime@aol.com

Marty,

I agree with you, and, in a way, so does Dr. Scott Gerson. (Foundation for

Institute; Member, American Medical Association; Family Physician, New York,
New York; Currently teaches and lectures  at many medical schools; Researcher;
Author; Medical Degree, Mt. Sinai Medical School, New York, New York;

OUR CONVENTIONAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM

"It is no longer a secret that our conventional system of health care is in a
terrible state of chaos. Although modern medicine has contributed greatly to
life threatening medical emergencies, trauma, injuries and certain forms of
severe infections, it has, on the other hand, failed miserably in the areas of
prevention and management of the myriad of chronic diseases which fill the
offices of physicians every single day.

What's more, as a nation we pay more for our medical care and achieve less
than most other nations of comparable economic status. And our health care
costs continue to spiral recklessly out of control. Treatment of chronic
diseases presently accounts for 85% of our national health care expenses. The
reason for this is that we give almost no attention to the causes of chronic
diseases before they give rise to severe illnesses. Then when we develop
symptoms of a severe illness we spend huge sums of money on
expensive synthetic pharmaceuticals, on surgeries, hospital care, and so on.
And even then we continue to ignore the underlying root cause of the disease.

Last year, my wife called me from home while I was at my office to let me
know that she had noticed a small wet patch of wall in the hallway just
outside our bedroom. She said she had no idea where it was coming from. She
called our plumber, who had already come by and diagnosed the problem to be a
leaking pipe from the upstairs bathroom, which he promptly resoldered to solve
the problem.

Our modern medicine's approach to await for a disease to outwardly manifest
itself is analogous to ignoring that early sign of trouble signaled by that
wet patch of sheetrock and waiting for that leaking pipe to eventually split
wide open and create damage to the infrastructure of my house. According to
the conventional medical model, we would then take heroic measures to repair
the damage with a lot of cutting and pounding and patching, but not fix the
leak!!! That's what modern medicine does!

As a consequence of our ignorance of the simple concept of the root cause of
disease, there has been, over the last 30-40 years, a disturbing trend toward
the development of chronic debilitating disease, in recent times.

Categorization of patient records and problems into broad groups:
		  Persistently over-secreting mucous membrane.
Chronic sinusitis, asthma, bronchitis, and chronic post nasal drip.
Persistent and excessive production of stomach acids.
			Peptic ulcers, gastritis, esophagal reflux.
Recurring and progressively worsening autoimmune or
autoinflammatory damage.
Various forms of arthritis, rheumatism, psoriasis, diabetes,
thyroiditis, Crohn's disease, lupus erythematosus, etc.
Chronic unresolvable infections with invulnerable pathogens, mostly
viruses.
Herpes, chronic hepatitis, pelvic and inflammatory diseases, post viral
syndrome, and certain forms of pancreatitis and thyroid disease.
		  Progressive disorganization of specific tissues.
Uterine fibroids, arteriosclerosis, diverticular disease, warts and
polyps.
Outright failure in their body surveillance against malignant cells, who
have developed cancer.
Various forms and degrees of immune deficiency.
Epstein-Barr infection, chronic tendoniasis, suspended yeast
infections, chronic depression, HIV disease.

Actually, the list is much longer. All these conditions are complex and
without exception remain largely impenetrable to modern medical science.

The one factor that I kept coming back to, to explain all of these illnesses
did not sound very complex or very scientific at all. But it is undeniable.
And that one common underlying link between all these compartmentalized
diseases is what we would call—a lack of vital energy. The state of patient
vitality is lost on modern medical thought.

This is a factor which I can tell you very plainly is usually not discussed
much in a consultation with a conventionally oriented doctor. Even in
conditions which are obviously and blaringly diseases which reduce vitality,
such as Epstein-Barr syndrome or chronic fatigue syndrome. The focus is more
on the virulence or even the existence of some evasive virus, than on the
obvious lack of vitality of the individual. The state of patient vitality
today seems to count for very little, in fact, in a medical paradigm so
obsessed with germs and isolated mechanisms of disease."
