Yesterday, when Dr. Morrison wrapped his
hands around Charlie's neck (he does this from behind with his eyes closed
in serious concentration and sometimes his lips move like he's talking to
himself) he stopped abrubtly, opened his eyes and bent forward to look at
the tumor. He said, "This is remarkable! I was all ready to feel
something much larger" Yeah, we had been watching it shrink,
Charlie and I, but it sure is great to see a doctor pleased and
amazed!!!
Next week, he'll have the long-line tubing
inserted either Turs. or Fri. (Feb 12 or 13) and I will take a short course
on cleaning the lines, hooking up the bags, dressing the site. The
second chemo drug will be administered at the hospital in 3-4 hours a day,
and they can make the bags mobile so he can continue radiation therapy as
well.
Spirits are soaring. Charlie's weight
is pretty steady. Mouth is bleeding, but we seem to have that under
control at the moment. Gee, I guess that's every little detail (and
probably more than you wanted to know).
Chas will try to write soon.
