Dear Carla,
I'm so happy for you!! The bone marrow test sounds very interesting. (I
wonder why the Sloan oncologist didn't mention it or if he even knows about
it. I believe I will give him a call and ask.) When are you getting your
test done? God, you must be on pins & needles.
Carla, I share your frustration. There's just no "right" answer for you or
me. Maybe you should demand God give you an answer :-). If he can make a
car start, he can certainly give you a sign! (I loved reading that story.)
Yes, I'm comfortable with my choice - especially considering the Sloan
oncologist agrees. I feel that he gave me the okay to follow my gut
instinct, to enhance my health so much that cancer doesn't even have a
chance. But you must follow your heart, dear lady. And whatever you
decide, it will be right.
All my love,
Barbara S.

Subject: [MOL] Test update on Carla
Date: Friday, January 09, 1998 9:12 PM
I just wanted to share that Brain MRI, CT scan and Bone Scan all came back
good. Praise God. Wednesday will be the last of the tests which will be
Bone Marrow, but will be done as an out patient.
Barbara, the objective is to assess bone marrow micrometastases (BMM) as a
predictor of systemic disease in patients with primary operable NSCC of the
lung.
Immunohistochemical staining is performed with two monoclonal antibodies
that recognize epithelial tumor cell markers. Patients with BMM have a
significantly higher risk of tumor recurrence. The statistics that I have
from this show 77% if BMM is found. There is another name for it and I
will look it up on the report and send it in the next message.
If they do find BMM, then I will embrace the next step which must be chemo.
If not then I must make the decision. I am still trying to get into a
study with Cancer vaccine and there may be one I can qualify for, but it is
Stage I. I will just keep praying for God to direct strongly in this and
show me what to do. I thank you all and want you to know that I am so glad
to have you all to turn to. God Bless You.
........Carla......
