Dear Bryan,
Very recently there have been meetings and much sharing of information
between the Federal Goverment and Alternative community such as the
Livingston Foundation. AS of this writing, the National Cancer Institute
and the Federal Drug Adminiistration will not clinically trial any
alternative treatment. It has been years and lawsuits to get to the
place that Dr. Burczynksi has been to and his is after 15 years and
much negative publicity won his lawsuit and is in about 100 various
clinical trials. I believe the answer to your question is two fold, "why
are alternatives not accepted by the Federal Government for Clinical
Trials" ...is this. From what I have learned, like you after much
discovery, is that the FEds are under monetary agreements as health may
not be a priority to this countrys policy, that is one, the other is
when there is a beaurocracy and many years of focusing on one agenda,
the beaurocrats do not or will not listen to change, I also believe that
is a human natural trait as well.
The positve side to this though Bryan is that alternatives is being
accepted in the medical community as many facilities as recently as this
past year are incorporating some procedures of alternatives into their
benefits. The leading HMO's such as Kaiser Permanente is offering
alternatives. Its a start. Also as I alluded to that there are ongoing
meetings between the FDA and NCI to listen to those experts on
alternatives. The reason behind this now and why now, is because of the
outcry and the many millions of dollars that the alternative community
is incurring because people believe there is an alternative to
conventional and the Feds, seeing that people are spending this kind of
money for alternative now see another way to make money and that is to
listen and to eventually include alternative into their programs. So in
a sense while it is with, tongue in cheek greed, it is also with great
satisfaction that alternatives are being accepted and this will become
common place in some fashion and very quickly, I believe.
HOpe this somewhat clarifies. Just my opinion and what I have learned.
God Bless
marty
