Dear ALPC,
Pls do not give up. The fighting words for all of us is...."Never give
up". Why? Because there are so many, many miracle stories and yes even
those with the advanced disease as your friend.
I would encourage you to take these steps for him.
he National Cancer Institute...can be reached by internet and phone and
will advise on the latest clinical trials available, who is conducting
them and where. Phone is 1-800-4CANCER and two good sites are
http://www.nci.nih.govhttp://rex.nci.nih.gov
One site is more technical, the other more general...both are valuable.
Another site for general cancer information is the NCCS Guide to Cancer
Resources at:
http://www.access.digex.net/~mkragen/non-java.html
Two of the best cancer hospitals in the United States are:
M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas
http://www.mdanderson.org
and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City
http://www.mskcc.org
Pls call and check out these web sites. I do encourage him to seek other
opinions, primarily those that treat the disease of pancreas and liver
and you will get the names of those opinions by calling the National
Cancer Institute at 1-800-4cancer. Try to read some of the books that
provide HOPE, not despondent messages that may not be based on fact.
There are two sides to every coin in this disease and yes there are
sides of many that have survived.
God Bless
marty
