Dearest Robin,

Ca-125 test primarily is one that may or may not be synonomous with
ovarian disease but is associated with that disease as opposed to colon.
Since your symptoms are in the gynecological area, it is wise of your
doctor to take this test, but keep in mind that it is a necessary test
and one of which should be many to determine the diagnosis and not
necessarily one that means you have cancer. Ca-125 may be elevated as
well when someone has a cold and this test may be elevated when other
diseases are symptomatic. The test, however, is called a marker, and one
that is about 80% accurate and generally used to track the progress of
treatments administered when a cancer is detected and that generally may
be Ovarian. But for now many test will be given and it is wise for a
ca-125 to be given and usually it is not associated with colon cancer.

I am assuming upper and lower G.I.S were taken as well as many other
tests. The reason a ca-125 is also being taken is because of family
history and your Doc is being thorough. Good for him/her.

Take care and pls do come back to this group with the test results. We
are anxious to support and help.
God Bless YOu
Marty
