Paul, your letter to the forum is very much like the first one that I wrote myself.. for me. I am a lung cancer; adenocarcinoma, Stage IIB, one lymph node, no distant metastases survivor of one year. My right lung was removed last November.
Now, you didn't post the type of lung cancer and the other details and if you would, it will definitely aid in getting information to you quicker..
My message to you is that there is always hope and it is very important that the person on the cancering journey and their loved ones believe this. The mind is a very powerful tool and it must be used very wisely and in the case of cancering, it is best used to believe..... Without this there is no hope.
You have faith in God and have been lifting your heart to God and there is comfort there for you, for you know that if...IF.. it is God's time to call your father home, then he will be in God's arms and rest in the peace of heaven. We have lost people from our forum and it hurts so very much to lose someone that you love, but it is the destiny of each and every person that one day we will all be called home to heaven.. The ones that hurt and agonize over a death are the loved ones who are left behind, the one who passes over is at perfect peace.
Medical statistics. I have alot of believe in conventional medicine, but I also know that as wonderful as our doctors are, they are not God. So what are medical statistics.. If a doctor says that you only have a 1% chance of living, then that means that 1 out of every 100 will live. Your father can be that one. If a doctor says that there is no hope, then that means that in his opinion there is no hope, but he is not understanding that God is in control and that there are miracles everyday.
Many of us on this forum have reached out and embraced conventional medicine, alternative medicine, holistic medicine and used combinations to strengthen the mind/body/spirit connection to wellness and life. We have believed: believed in God for a miracle and believed in ourselves and gone to work to be on the cancering journey..
You notice that I say cancering journey. This is a phrase coined by Greg Anderson who has written two books that I recommend: "50 Essential Things to Do When the Diagnosis is Cancer" and "The Cancer Conqueror". It would be very good for your father and your entire family to ready 50 Essential Things... immediately. Greg Anderson is a two time lung cancer survivor that was sent home to die and that is when he turned it around to become a part of this and started on the cancering (verb, active) journey (no quick cure, but a lifestyle change to wellness).
Paul, there are also books by Bernie Siegal who is a surgeon that has seen God's will at work in his patients... They would be of comfort to you all for additional reading.
Were it in my power, a surefire cure would be sent to you right now. This is not something that I, nor anyone else can do.. but, neither can someone send you a surefire death. There are additional things that can be done by the cancering survivor and doing these things will not make things worse, by any means. The very least that will be accomplished will be an increased quality of life each day and that is a blessing to the cancering survivor and the family..
Know that there are many who will lift you, your father and family up in prayer. Find friends who will get your father put on their church prayer list.. There are alot of miracles that come from prayer..
I hope that I have shown you a glimpse of the light of believing... If I can help any more, please feel free to email me direct at blessu@worldnet.att.net or this forum is a wonderful place to share and receive the caring from alot of people who understand completely.
May God Bless you and comfort you all and lead you to the cancering journey... a better life... Carla
