When I was little our dog, Melvin, came in contact with one of the scented creatures. He thought he smelled divine! It took a lot of tomato juice to clean him up. When I was a kid up at my family's resort, we had tons of cats that just
ran wild. I was out for a walk one night, and saw what I thought was one
of our kittens, and called out, "here Kitty, Kitty!" To my horror, when
the critter got about 3' away I realized my "kitty" was of the civet
variety -- fortunately the skunk didn't take offence when I said "never
mind!" and took off -- I lucked out for sure!
