[MOL] dr.'s visits

Dear PJ,

I think going to the Dr.'s is a real drag, anyway you cut it. Mine is a
different situation from yours, because I have always gone for myself.
It's not the same as taking a dear mother who you like to coddle and
protect, and who might not share the same interests you do for passing time
while you wait.

But once I found a doctor I like and trust, ( which I hope to God I have
now), and I know what to expect, (waiting or a quick trip), I try to make
myself comfortable. I might bring a hobby like some knitting, or a couple
of books to read. One book is probably always something that I've read
before and is for me, backed with giggles. I always bring my walkman with
some of my favorite music. I practice visualization of little pacpeople
eating up my cancer, imagine I'm some place much more fun than the doctor's
office, etc. They make now some lovely tapes of things like the ocean
crashing into shore, lovely birds tweeting, etc.

I don't know if this is much help; it does help me get by.

Lots of Love,

Martha
