Marty: That story reminded me of my own experience when I had a paper route
in LA. in the early fifties. It was foggy and I came across a whining little
puff of kitten laying in a wet gutter and didn't even have its eyes open. I
put it in my paperbag and took it home to inquire "can I keep it". "Well, I
guess so but you have to keep away from Dolly," our spaniel, who loathed cats.
Well, as it turned out one late one night, I heard Dolly whining and
whimpering. When I turned on the lights I found that the kitten had escaped
from her bed and was nursing on Dolly who had miraculously developed milk to
nurture the kitten.
They were friends after all.
