Hi,
My 8 year old son had been sick recently with a stomach virus and
it has lingered. I took him in to the doctor for blood work and
it was discovered that his white blood count was 27,700. Not knowing
what was the matter the doctor prescribed ceftin for any infection
that he could possible have. We go back on Nov. 2, 1998 for more blood
test to see if the white count has come down. In researching this
only a bacterial virus or leukemia is the cause for a rise in the
white blood count. Is this high enough to be concerned about leukemia?
Thank you for an answer.
