Hi Jayna,
Either this got lost in my stack of email for a long time or the date or
your computer needs to be reset. I did find it at the top of my inbox which
doesn't get cleaned out very often. The date was Monday, Aug 27, 1957.
Since my mail comes in by the date and time sent, this put it way back in
the list.
At any rate, this is a very caring group of people who offer support for
those experiencing cancer as a patient of as a caregiver. If you stay on
this line you will find lots of answers to your questions. As to survival
rate percentages, that depends on the stage of the cancer, where it is
located, and whether or not it has metastasized. Have they scheduled
surgery or has she already had it? If it is breast cancer, did they take
lymph nodes for study. It also depends on the attitude and willingness to
fight displayed by the patient.
I had surgery for a 1.7 cm stage one cancer with no lymph node involvement
on July 10. I had 7 weeks of radiation therapy, no chemo. I believe I am
free of cancer now. The survival rate for those who catch it this early
with this level of involvement is about 95 %. For more information from us
you could supply us with more information about your friend's diagnosis.
We care what happens to your friend and if we can help, we will. Please
feel free to join us in our serious help and our fun and nonsense. It all
helps in dealing with the cancer.
