Here's Annie's latest letter. Sounds like she's doing alright:
Hi everyone!
Work is going okay. I've been working 1/2 days for this week and last
week. Next week I start back on full days. I think I'm up to the
challenge. I'm still enjoying going to work. That feeling will probably
pass in a month or so!
I didn't wear my hat once I got to work today. I've decided to show the
real me! It seems a little strange, but in the long run, it's for the
best. Unfortunately the bright fluorescent lights make my hair look
thinner than it is. It looks much darker and fuller at home! Another
person in my work group has a hairdo similar to mine, so I should fit
right in. But the other worker is a guy, so maybe it's not quite the
same. I'll continue to wear my hat coming and going from work - to avoid
sunburn and/or the cold.
I had a low blood sugar episode today. I haven't had one in quite a
while. Since I'm working, I'm not eating as much junk food - another
good thing about working. It takes my body about an hour to recover from
low blood sugar - I get a real shakey feeling. If I continue to have low
blood sugar readings, maybe I'll be able to reduce some of my blood sugar
medicine. That would be nice.
I've started taking Evista - for post menopausal osteoporosis prevention.
I can't take estrogen because of my cancer. (Not that I think I'd want
to take it anyhow.) Dr. Fowler said that my uterine cancer makes me more
susceptible to breast and colon cancer. Just one more thing to keep in
mind. He said he doesn't think I have any cancer in me right now. I
feel that it was all removed with the surgery and that the chemo was just
an insurance policy. I'll do my best to keep "cancer free".
When I went back to work, the gang had decorated my cubicle. There were
about 20 balloons hanging down from the ceiling with a big sign that said
"Welcome back Annette!" It was nice of them to do that for me. I left
the balloons up for a couple days, but then they started getting in the
way. Lots of friends stopped by to say hello, too.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Love,
Annie
Other things in the life of Jean :-):
We've scheduled an appt. for Michael to see the pediatric neurologist on
October 28th. Wish us luck. Michael keeps giving me different stories
about what happened the night we were out. Today I asked him how he
could possibly not have responded to the babysitter tickling him while he
was in that unresponsive (absence seizure?) state. He said, "because I
was sleep sitting." That reinforces my opinion about sending him to the
neurologist. It sort-of *does* sound like he was in some type of trance.
In the car this morning, he told me his neck hurts and he feels dizzy
whenever he tilts his head forward.
I met our new neighbors today (the dog guy moved!!) and they seem to be
really nice. Well - I only met the woman, but *she* seems nice, so I
suspect her husband is, too. She is due to have a baby in November!
That was sort-of neat. She said the guy's backyard was very well
fertilized (I'm a little surprised *any* was back there at all since he
let his dog roam the neighborhood to make his deposits on other people's
yards.) and she found some cans in the bushes. I told her there had been
lots of parties there.
Nothing else to tell lately. Tom has been out of town all of this week
so I'm sort-of tired. Still have a little bit of this cold. My back is
feeling better, though, now that I'm taking the Lodine.
Michael says he's not going to invite his grandparents and his Aunt
Regina to his birthday party (which is *not* until May of next year!)
because "they don't like Power Rangers." Jeez! Kids! :-) Yesterday he
told me that he's going to buy a house that's for sale near us. Then
he'll buy lots of toys, so if we call him and he's out buying toys we
should "just leave a message." He said he's going to have lots and lots
of phones, "but he'll answer each phone one at a time." And he said he
wants to check to see if my house is clean before he comes over (the
little whipper-snapper!).
Well, I have to go get the kids to bed. They seem to be at each other's
throats more often while Tom has been away - or maybe I just notice it
more since I'm the only parent on duty. :-)
