I may have misunderstood, but didn't you say that your mother has
Adenocarcinoma? We were told that it is nearly impossible to stage the
cancer until after the surgery (if one is performed) is done. Things like
MRIs and CT Scans can sometimes give an estimate, I believe. You may want
to ask about prognosis in regards to each of the treatment options.
