Pet scans are very expensive and very limited, but essential in
diagnosing tumors less than .5 cm where cat scans are limited. The
reasoning that many medical facilities dissuade us from pet scans is the
limit or expense they would have to incur if they recommended a pet scan
from a facility who provides that test and there are few, indeed. So the
typical response is "its in the experimental stage, therefore we don't
recommend it". Nonsense.
Take care hope this helps and yes if you can get a pet scan by all means
especially in detecting tumor that are small, by all means go for it.
