Dear Eric,

You might want to call the National Cancer Institute at their toll free
number 1-800-4CANCER to discuss any questions you may have. They will
also mail a good deal of information to you.

As far as the ranking of hospitals go, I have come to realize that the
most important thing is the trust and confidence you may have in your
physician. The U.S.News ranks hospitals each year by speciality. Their
home page for "The Best Hospitals" is
http://www4.usnews.com/usnews/nycu/hospind.htm

Their report ranks the U of C San Francisco Medical Center as "11th
Nationwide". This ranking is based on, among other factors, cancer
mortality rate and the ratio of such elements as interns & residents,
nurses, Board Certified Oncologists and cancer related procedures offered
as compared to the number of beds.

I stress however that these ratings are no guarantee of outcome and
should be used as just another piece of the information puzzel that we
all face in attempting to beat cancer.

Good luck in your search and God Bless you,

John Lehner
