Dear Nina,
First let me say welcome. You have come to the right place. We don't
worry about form...its substance that counts and believe me you have
plenty! You are on the right track in many regards. Having convolesed
from major cancer surgery, I know what being confined to bed can do to
your body. The key to recovery is progressive exercise that matches the
patients ability, good neutrition, plenty of fluids and the support of
loving family. It seems your mother has it all in you!
I was operated on and am being followed by the staff of Memorial Sloan
Kettering. It is one of two of the best cancer hospitals in the US.
They have an execellent team approach to delivering care and includes
anyone who can contribute to your recovery. The other side of the
medical coin is the care giver who is there to support, encourage and,
yes, even fight with the cancer patient to do what is needed to restore
health.
You will also get experienced advise from other members of this group
from whom I draw a great deal of guidence and strength. Digest what they
offer and know it is from the heart and having traveled the path.
I will keep you and your mother in my prayers. God Bless you and give
you strength.
John
