Dear Jacky,
My Barb had carboplatin. May I suggest something here and pls take it
in the the most diplomatic, warmest, compassionate suggtestions as we
are experienced with many drugs and the administration of those drugs
and the psychology behind it. The National Cancer Institue publishes a
whole litany of side effects for each and every drug and that is because
there may be, may be, I reiterate may be, a side effect after that
treatment. Our experience is if I relay ten possible side effects to
you Father or anyone that may receive any chemotherapy, the possibility
of experiencing all side effects can happen. If your Father is not aware
of any side effects or is told about them, then he will experience far
less side effects as if he knew. In other words, if you tell someone
that they are going to lose their hair as a result of chemo, then the
possibility is they will. We have known a number of surviovors who did
not lose their hair because they were never told thay they may lose
their hair.
Does this make sense? In our case, we never told Barb about side
effects, at least I knew, but I never told Barb and she experienced very
little side effects as a result of her not knowing. In those cases I was
prepared, sort of.
Carboplatin has been around for a while and is very successful in
combination with other drugs.
Pls take this suggestion in the light of friendship and not one that is
derogatory as, this has been our experience. OK/
God Bless YOu
Marty and Barb
