Dear M,

Unfortunately I had to become an expert on ovarian cancer and therapies
when my Barb, my wife was diagnosed with a similar ovarian cancer and
fortunately I had to become an expert so as to travel this wellness
journey with her and so many others that are afflicted with this
disease.

First of all Ovarian Cancer is not a detectable disease like breast
cancer whereas the mammograms may detect tumors. There is no measure or
test for Ovarian disease. However, in your situation, you must find a
good Gynecological Oncologist first. That is a necessary and first step.
The second step He/she must take a test called a tumor marker ca-125
which does monitor and indicate that there may be a disease (ovarian)
problem. Also when was the last time you had a papsmear and good
overall physical examination? A cursory physical exam would or may
detect a tumor or mass.

I would also encourage you to suggest to the oncologist to take cat
scans, full body as well as blood work cbc (complete blood count)
Between the ca-125, the physical exam, blood work and cat scans an
ovarian or possibly other type of problem may be found.

I am very weary of you taking any medicines for pain or otherwise
without first detecting or finding the problem as in many cases
exacerbates the problem and the condition.

As for Ovarian disease and age. Generally, generally, it is found in
woman between the ages of 30 and 60, but cancer in any form can happen
at any age. If it is found in an early stage then it may be cured or
controlled. If you wait or procrastinate in seeing a good doctor we
would be concerned with metastasis (spread to other areas of body) which
is much more difficult to control or cure. So I urge you to see a Doctor
that specializes in womens diseases, particularly one who specializes in
cancer a gynecological oncologist.

M, if I may be of further help, answere your questions or concerns, pls
let me know. My e-mail address is fitecancer@earthlink.net. I am not a
doctor, just a caregiver who has traveled and is traveling down this
path with an open mind that people like you need not fear when there may
be a problem

God Bless YOu
Marty
