Re: [MOL] Mom with CUP

Dear MWOODS,

Yes my Mom was fully sedated and the operation took about 1 1/2 HRS. She was
fairly healthy going in even tho she had lost 25 lbs over the last 3 months.
The operation removed only part of the tumor as they could not get around to
the inside of the spinal cord.. The doctor removed a section of one vertabrae
and the outside and side of the tumor. It was located in the middle of the
back where the spine is supported by the ribs so the loss of the bone was of
little sugnificants to her mobility. She is now going to be getting 3 weeks
of dayly radiation treatments to kill the remaining tumor.

If your grandfather is not a canadate for sugery maybe the radiation could
shrenk the tumor and releave much of the pain and slowdown the cancer
progression. My Mom still has back pain from the nerve damage and continuing
pressure on the spinal collumn, we are expecting this to be releaved in the
next few weeks.

Our hope is for the primary to be found in a place that is treatable. But
only time will tell.

God Bless,
Jim
