Re: [MOL] Mom with CUP

Dear Jim,

I am wondering about what procedure the doctor's used to remove the tumor
in your mom's spine. Does it require to be "fully" sedated? My
Grandfather (75) also has cancer in his spine. Two main tumors, one is
over two inches long and the other is not quite one inch. His doctor's are
not doing anything to help with it. He has had numerous open heart's,
advanced stages of emphysema (coronary) and scar tissues from an aneurysm.
Besides spine cancer he also has cancer through out his upper GI and
throat. The doctors say that his heart and lungs will not withstand an
operation. They tried one large dose of chemo and now say that he cannot
handle the chemo and if they did try the most it would do would extent his
life a month or two....but very miserable. Now last Friday they have
discovered that he has another aneurysm next to his heart. The doctor's
basically want to see if the cancer, heart or aneurysm takes him first.

My Grandfather normally was a real fighter and would fight this. Now he
has gotten so tired and is in so much pain. Something needs done to give
him hope again and fight this off. Oh....here's another thought. Last
Friday when the doctor found the aneurysm he spoke to my mom and aunt and
they decided not to tell him about the aneurysm. Do you think that this is
wise? Not letting him know it all???? I am concerned with this. What if
he finds out they decided to keep this from him PLUS everyone else
knew?????

I look forward to your responses.

MWoods
