Hi! This is to the two of you who wondered about cup and
adenocarcinoma.
Maybe this can be of some help.
My mom was diagnosed with CUP that was of Adenocarcinoma type last
August. (1996)
The doctors started vigorous testing to try to find the primary source.
It took them six weeks and finally found it in the breast. Now her
cancer is termed Breast Cancer not CUP. I was told that adenocarcinoma
is a cancer from glandular tissue. The breast, prostate, lung, etc.
The doctors told my mom they almost never find the primary tumor site
and was pretty grim about the prognosis. Luckily she had a very young
aggressive doctor that just wouldn't settle on doing nothing. Thanks to
him, she is not almost in remission and is going to undergo a Stem Cell
transplant in the near future. Please, I urge you to keep on your
doctors and get a second opinion if you aren't satisfied. My moms Onc.
told her that breast cancer just isn't found as CUP first. Her
mammograms were completely clear. The only way they found it was a tiny
blip on the CAT Scan. (the cancer was found in her bones first with
fluid surrounding her lungs and liver.) They then biopsied the site
immediately and found the cancer! If you have any questions, please
feel free to write me. I've done a lot of research on these types of
cancer. Joanne
