I am sending this e-mial in the hopes of finding out more information for my
mother.
My mother was diagnosed with cancer last Thanksgiving with a growth near her
heart (she is 71 and in otherwise good health). She received the following
treatments (please forgive any spelling errors):
Nov-Mar: 5 Treatments: Cytoxan, Mitoxantrone, Cristine, Pridnisone. The
response was mixed. The tumor near her heart shrunk, but a new growth was
detected in her abdomen.
Apr-May: 2 Treatments: Etoposide, Methylprednisolone, cytarabine,
cisplatin. The results were mixed. The tumor near her heart began to grow
again.
June - Radiation treatment on the heart mass for 11 days.
The doctors have given her 2 months to live. She was admitted to the
hospital a week ago and for the first few days her condition worsened. Her
heart began to beat rapidly and she became very confused and incoherent.
They treated her heart condition with medication and gave her a spinal
injection with the hopes of clering up her mind. The injections seem to have
helped and her heart rate is down. However, now there seems to be a problem
with her kidneys. An ultrasound was conducted and there was no blockage so
now they are trying to explore more options.
I am willing to accept that there is not much more that can be done, but I
would appreciate any information that might be helpful.
Speed is of the essence if anyhting else is to be tried so if you need more
