My father, 79, has been diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma of
the renal pelvis in one kidney. It has not spread and he has been
advised by two reputable doctors that removal of the kidney is the
treatment of choice and gives the best chance of cure. He devoutly
wishes that it were possible to avoid this surgery, mainly because he
simply hates hospitals, surgery etc (though he has had gall bladder
and hernia surgery previously). Does anyone have any info about the
relative merits of surgery vs other possible treatments, and/or have
any info re the availability of alternative treatments available in
the DFW area? Anyone out there had this surgery who's willing to
share the xperience? Thanx--
