CPT11 has recently been approved by the FDA for treatment of colon cancer
in those instances in which a 5FU regimen has already been used and there
has been a recurrence. It is effective in only some 15% of cases, and
then for a short period only. Presently being undertaken are clinical
trials involving combinations of 5FU and CPT11.
