Dear Sir,
My son, 7 1/2 years old has been operated on his left thigh for
neurofibrosarcoma about one month back . The surgeon said it was near to
total removal of the tumour, but had to leave some part as it was attached
to the sciatic nerve. The doctors have prescribed him radiation for 5 days
a week, for about 6-7 weeks. The third week of radiation is going on and
after radiation may start chemotherapy. Is chemotherapy necessary, if so
what type will he be getting?
I, the Mother have Cafe-io-lait spots and neurofibraomitosis over my body.
My son has only Cafe-io-lait spots . Very few was seen at birth but
increased day by day. He has no neurofibroma yet, is there any medicine
for neurofibroma ? Can we stop him from developing neurofibroma ? Has
Ketotifin fumerate anything to do with neurofibromotosis ?
Lastly ,my son had neurofibrosarcoma only in his left thigh. Investigation
said he has no tumour anywhere else. Can he develop later ? If so , how
can we come to know ? Is there any similarities between neurofibroma and
neurofibrosarcoma ?
